The 19-game losing streak to the New York Yankees is no more. Now, is it time for a two-game winning streak?
The Orioles hope so, but they’ll have to beat the Yankee ace to get there. Gerrit Cole takes the mound for New York, and he brings with him a 4-2 record and 3.91 ERA. He’s fanned 60 batters in 46 innings in his first season in the Bronx since arriving from Houston on a nine-year, $324 million contract.
He pitched once against Baltimore, a 9-3 Yankee win on July 29. He pitched 6.2 innings and allowed three runs on four hits while striking out seven.
Opposing him will be Keegan Akin, who will make his second start of the season. He has no record, with a 7.52 ERA.
Bad news: Gleyber Torres is back in the Yankee lineup, batting third and playing shortstop. If you don’t know what he did against the Orioles last year...oh, you sweet, sweet, innocent soul.
