Orioles-Mariners Monday night game postponed, teams to play doubleheader Tuesday

Rain washes away the first of a four-game set between the Orioles and Mariners, but it will be made up right away.

The Orioles will have to wait one more day before they get to play a baseball game against a team from outside of their own time zone.

The game scheduled between the O’s and the Seattle Mariners for Monday night was postponed following a 90-minute rain delay and more inclement weather in store for the Baltimore area.

Instead, the two teams are now set to play a single-admission doubleheader on Tuesday at Camden Yards. The first game starts at 4:05. The second game will begin 45 minutes after the final out of the first game is recorded.

Remember, doubleheaders will consist of two, seven-inning games in 2021, just like they did in 2020. Also, both teams will be allowed to carry a 27th player for the day. In all likelihood, it will be a pitcher in both cases. For the Orioles, the most obvious candidates would be Travis Lakins Sr. or Isaac Mattson, two pitchers who found themselves on the travel squad in the opening week of the season.
