Let’s try this again. It looks like the Orioles and Mariners will dodge the rain today as they play two games to make up for the postponement on Monday evening. But things don’t pick up right where they left off.
O’s manager Brandon Hyde decided to flip-flop his starting pitchers. John Means will jump Dean Kremer and pitch in Game 1 against Justus Sheffield. Kremer will then start on the bump for Game 2 with a full additional day of rest since his previous game action.
Joining the Orioles roster for the first time this season is right-handed relief pitcher Travis Lakins Sr. as the 27th man for the doubleheader. The 26-year-old was a dependable member of the team’s bullpen last summer, but ended up as one of their final cuts prior to the start of the 2021 regular season. He did travel with the club to Boston and New York to open the season as part of the five-man travel squad but has yet to see game action. Infielder Donovan Walton will fill the same role for Seattle.
Other than that, everything mentioned in yesterday’s game thread follows over to today. You could also read Mark’s series preview for a full refresher. Game 2 will begin 45 minutes after the final out of Game 1 is recorded. This post can serve as the thread for both affairs.
