The Orioles won’t continue to be this bad at home, and the Athletics won’t continue to win every single baseball game they play. So, why not put a stop to both streaks at one time?
It might be a tall task for this version of the Orioles. In an effort to get his rotation an additional day of rest, manager Brandon Hyde will turn to the bullpen for the entirety of this Saturday evening matchup at Camden Yards. Wade LeBlanc will get the ball first, but considering that the most pitches he has thrown at one time this season is 24, we can’t expect him to last long. Maybe two innings?
Tyler Wells should pitch tonight. The Rule 5 pick has not appeared in a game since April 11th. That was nearly two full weeks ago. If Wells can’t find time in a game like this, then when can the Orioles expect to count on the 26-year-old?
Another option to could provide multiple innings is Adam Plutko. The righty has tossed as many as 39 pitches in a three-inning outing back in the first week of the season. But he has also become one of Hyde’s most dependable arms. So, the game situation might dictate whether it’s worth giving him an appearance.
