When last we saw the New York Yankees, they were harshing our buzzes from the season-starting sweep of the Red Sox. The Orioles went into Yankee Stadium on April 5th and got battered around for two games, and then barely squeaked out an extra-innings win to avoid being swept.
After that series, things didn’t go so well for the Yankees as they just kept losing and losing. It was just brilliant. But their most recent series, against Cleveland, saw them take three out of four so they’re riding a bit of a high as they come into Baltimore for a four-game series.
Currently both the Orioles and Yankees are sporting a 9-12 record, which ties them for worst in the A.L. East. I know that wins are not yet strategically relevant, but nothing would make me happier than to see the Orioles give the Yankees a beat down that puts them firmly in the cellar by themselves.
Do I actually think that’ll happen? No. But I can dream.
