The Orioles welcome the third-place Tampa Bay Rays to Camden Yards tonight for the start of a three-game series.
Matt Harvey is on the bump for the O’s, and he’ll try to erase the memory of his previous start when he allowed seven runs over 4.1 innings against the Mets at Citi Field. It would be very beneficial to Baltimore’s bullpen if Harvey could work deep into the game tonight. His longest start this season was six innings. In four starts this year at home, Harvey has a 3.20 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.
The Rays will counter with 21-year-old right-hander Luis Patino, who broke into the majors last year with the Padres and has never faced the O’s before. Patino has split his time between the bullpen and the rotation this year with Tamps, and in two starts, he’s pitched a total of 6.2 innings with a 1.35 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and 3.00 SO/W.
The Orioles lineup tonight looks pretty familiar, with the exception of Stevie Wilkerson, aka Dr. Poo Poo, who is playing second base and batting ninth. He was recalled from the minors earlier today.
