Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 12, Durham (Rays) Bulls 4 F/8
Norfolk’s offense exploded for 12 runs to pick up its 10th win of the season. The Tides broke double digits despite not hitting a home run, but Zach Jarrett and Willy Yahn both tripled. Jarrett finished 2-3 with 3 RBIs, a walk and a run scored. Yahn walked three times and scored every time he reached base.
Catchers Chance Sisco and Brett Cumberland both doubled in the game. Sisco went 3-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Cumberland finished 2-3 with a walk. The Tides tallied eight walks on the day.
Mac Sceroler made another rehab start for Norfolk and struggled once again. The Rule 5 pick allowed six hits and four runs through 2.2 innings. On the bright side, he did not walk a batter and struck out seven. Isaac Mattson received credit for the win despite recording only one out.
Alexander Wells pitched the final four innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out five and did not issue a walk. Wells, the Orioles’ 18th best prospect according to MLB.com, picked up the four-inning save with his best performance in the young season.
The game was called in the eighth inning after Durham pitcher Tyler Zombro took a line drive off the head. Reports described Zombro as seriously injured with players being visibly shaken on the field. I’m sure I speak for the entire Camden Chat community when wishing Zombro a full recovery.
Double-A: Bowie Baysox 4, Hartford (Rockies) Yard Goats 0
Bowie starter Ofelky Peralta limited Hartford to just three hits in five scoreless innings. Peralta struck out five and walked two batters. Former first-round pick Cody Sedlock replaced Peralta and delivered four scoreless innings. Sedlock did walk four batters, but struck out three and picked up a four-inning save of his own.
J.C. Escarra and Cadyn Grenier put some distance between the teams with a pair of RBI singles in the fourth. Grenier finished 3-4 and Escarra went 2-3 with a walk. Terrin Vavra provided some insurance with a two-run home run in the seventh. Top prospect Adley Rutschman went hitless but did walk once.
High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds vs Hickory (Rangers) Crawdads POSTPONED
The IronBirds game was postponed due to inclement weather. Aberdeen and Hickory will play a doubleheader Saturday with the first game starting at 4:05 p.m.
Low-A: Fredericksburg Nationals 6, Delmarva Shorebirds 2
Houston Roth started for Delmarva and worked the first four innings. He allowed three hits, three runs, three walks and struck out three. Jake Zebron relieved Roth and allowed three more runs in just a third of an inning.
Trevor Kehe picked up an RBI with a bases loaded walk and TT Bowens added a run with a solo homer in the sixth. Bowens finished 3-4, while Gunnar Henderson and Hudson Haskin both added a hit.
