Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 5, Memphis Redbirds 9
The Tides were down in a 3-0 hole after a short start by Kevin Smith, who’s having a bit of a rough adjustment to Triple-A hitters. Smith (1-2, 5.00 ERA) threw 33 pitches in the first inning, walking three while only retiring two batters. He allowed just one hit in his 0.2 innings of work, but it was a two-run single following a sac fly, and would end his appearance. More effective in relief was Mickey Jannis, who threw 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball.
The deficit was cut to 3-1 in the sixth inning when everybody’s favorite infield prospect, Jahmai Jones homered against the Cardinals’ No. 9 prospect, the righty Angel Rondón. Jones added a double in the eighth, and he’s hitting .400 in this series (8-for-20) with five extra-base hits. (He also had a throwing error, though.)
Man he's good! @jamjones7 crushes a home run to dead center into the Memphis bullpen, his 6th of the season.

The Tides plated two more runs in the eighth on a double by outfielder Seth Mejias-Brean, and two more in the ninth on a Tyler Nevin double, but it wasn’t enough to come back from a bad night by Cody Carroll and Fernando Abad, who allowed six runs between them in three innings.
Double-A: Bowie Baysox, Akron RubberDucks PPD
This game was rained out, and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday.
High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 0, Hickory Crawdads 1 SUSP
Garrett Stallings allowed a solo home run to the Crawdads early but the IronBirds were threatening in the top of the third with runners on first and third and Adam Hall at the plate when the game was called due to inclement weather. This one will be made up on Sunday.
Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 6, Down East Wood Ducks 3
The Shorebirds put up a three-spot in the first inning and never looked back. TT Bowens, flaunting a .921 OPS since arriving at Delmarva, doubled in Darell Hernaiz (3-for-4 on Saturday) and Jean Carmona hit a two-run blast, his first of two home runs on the day. 2B Andrew Martinez homered in the seventh for the Shorebirds’ sixth run.
Starter Zach Peek (4.37 ERA) got a no-decision, throwing five innings with two runs allowed on five hits and four walks. He struck out seven. Houston Roth (4-1, 3.80 ERA) earned the win with four complete innings of one-run ball.
