Orioles minor league recap 7/29: Patrick Dorrian homers twice, Richie Martin rehabs with Bowie

Patrick Dorrian blasted a pair of solo shots and Richie Martin added a hit in a winning effort for Bowie.

Triple-A: Durham Bulls (Rays) 8, Norfolk Tides 2

Claudio Custodio limited Durham to two runs through the first four innings, but the Tides bullpen allowed the Bulls to break things open late. Shawn Armstrong tossed a scoreless inning, but Cody Carroll allowed a pair of runs and Eric Hanhold gave up three more in the seventh.

Ryan Ripken drove in Brett Cumberland with a single in the second, and Robert Neustrom plated Mason McCoy with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Norfolk tallied only four hits in total. Cumberland doubled, while McCoy and Jahmai Jones added the others.

Double-A: Bowie Baysox 5, Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants) 4

Patrick Dorrian clinched the game with a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning. Dorrian homered twice in the game and also worked a walk. Five other players accounted for Bowie’s five additional hits. Richie Martin finished 1-3 in a rehab appearance with the Baysox. Adley Rutschman went 0-5 and struck out once.

Kyle Brnovich allowed two runs on just two hits over four innings. He struck out three and walked two. Diogenes Almengo picked up his fifth save of the season with two shutout innings.

High-A: Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays) 5, Aberdeen IronBirds 3

Aberdeen tallied just four hits all game. Hudson Haskin accounted for two with a pair of doubles, and Jordan Westburg added a solo shot. Westburg has reached base in 25 consecutive games. Shayne Fontana finished 1-4. Gunnar Henderson finished 0-4 and struck out twice.

Aberdeen starter Conner Loeprich allowed all five of Bowling Green’s runs. Kade Strowd, Easton Lucas and Garrett Farmer combined for 5.2 scoreless innings.

Low-A: Fredericksburg Nationals 6, Delmarva Shorebirds 4

Delmarva failed to score in the first seven innings, and the Shorebirds’ late rally fell short. Cristopher Cespedes finished 2-4 with a double, and Yorkislandy Alvarez went 2-3. TT Bowens finished 1-5.

Noah Denoyer allowed three runs over 3.1 innings, and Jensen Elliot coughed up three more in relief. Leonardo Rodriguez allowed just one hit over the final 1.1 innings.
