Matt Harvey will take the mound for the Orioles as they shoot for their second consecutive victory and a series win against Toronto. Harvey last faced Toronto on June 25 when he limited the Jays to three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. He allowed a pair of runs over 4.2 innings his last time out against Houston. Harvey allowed four runs in 4.2 innings against the Blue Jays last month at Camden Yards.
The Orioles will square off against Toronto starter Hyun Jin Ryu. Ryu cruised through six innings the last time he faced the O’s but hit a brick wall in the seventh. Baltimore tagged him for four runs in the seventh inning of a game that had essentially already been decided. He holds a 3.65 and 4.20 FIP after 16 starts.
Maikel Franco will not be in the lineup after Baltimore moved him to the 10-day injured list. The injury took place on the final game of an Orioles’ victory last Wednesday. Baltimore recalled recent waiver claim Kelvin Gutierrez to take Franco’s place on the roster.
Domingo Leyba will get the start at third base while Ramon Urías starts at short. Pat Valaika will handle second base while Ryan Mountcastle takes first base. Trey Mancini will serve as the designated hitter.
Cedric Mullins will leadoff and take center field. Austin Hays and Ryan McKenna will join him in the outfield. McKenna will bat sixth. The rookie does not profile as a middle of the order bat, but he did go 2-5 against Toronto on June 27. Austin Wynns will catch Harvey.
