Orioles minor league recap 7/9: Three rainouts and a shutout loss

Norfolk, Bowie and Delmarva never played. Meanwhile, Aberdeen never scored.

Houston Astros v Baltimore Orioles

Did I sell you with that headline? God bless you for clicking anyway. While the Orioles minor league system has been a reliable reason to smile, not even a top-10 farm system can overcome a tropical storm. Fortunately, the sun will shine again on all of your favorite prospects.

Triple-A: Norfolk Tides vs. Durham (Rays) Bulls PPD

A makeup game has been scheduled for today (7/9).

Double-A: Bowie Baysox vs. Richmond (Giants) Flying Squirrels PPD

A makeup game has been scheduled for July 28.

High-A: Greenville (Red Sox) Drive 1, Aberdeen IronBirds 0

Aberdeen managed to play a game last night, but they never bothered to score. Gunnar Henderson and Dylan Harris both doubled, but the IronBirds never took advantage. Harris finished 2-3 and was the only Aberdeen player to record multiple hits. Jordan Westburg (1-4) and Andrew Daschbach (1-4) added the only other knocks.

Connor Gillispie got the start and allowed just one run through five innings. Gillispie, a ninth-round pick in 2019, struck out three, walked one and was a solo homer away from a shutout performance. Clayton McGinness, a 20th-round pick in the same draft, tossed two scoreless innings, and Shelton Perkins delivered a scoreless eighth. The Orioles selected Perkins in the 16th round back in 2019.

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds vs. Salem Red Sox PPD

A makeup game has been scheduled for today (7/9).
