After starting the second half strong against a bunch of crappy teams, the Orioles have once again fallen on hard times. They have not only gone 1-5 since the first of August, they have given up at least 10 runs in four straight games. That is a lot! If they do so again today, they’ll set a team record. I don’t know about you but I like my team records to be a little more fun than that.
Jorge López is starting the game today, coming off of a strong start against the Yankees (the lone August win) in which he conquered his 5th inning demons, at least for one game. Can he do it again? We will see!
Of course, he could do great and the Orioles could still be blown out because the bullpen has been particularly abysmal. In the five August losses, they have given up 32 runs. That is bad! Real bad.
So good luck to López and to the relief pitchers and especially to the fans in the stands. It could be ugly.
