It was a big day for the Shorebirds offense, too.

Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 3, Durham Bulls 1 (Game 1)

Kyle Bradish (4-5, 5.02 ERA) got the win with five innings of one-run baseball. Bradish allowed just a solo home run and struck out five. He’s been solid in his last two starts. Félix Bautista pitched a scoreless inning in which he allowed two hits but also struck out the side.

The Tides scored one run on a Tyler Nevin single, another on a Robert Neustrom long ball (his 7th at Norfolk), and third on a Yusniel Díaz single. Díaz had a 2-for-3 day (finally!), as did Neustrom. Adley Rutschman was 0-for-3 but walked once.

Norfolk Tides 1, Durham Bulls 6 (Game 2)

The Tides’ one run came in auspicious circumstances: Kyle Stowers’ first home run at Norfolk. They managed only three other hits, though: a single apiece by Pat Valaika, Zach Jarrett, and Nick Ciuffo.

Two guys named Knight gave up all the runs in this game: Blaine had a rocky start, allowing four runs in 2.1 innings. The 2018 3rd-round draft pick has a 6.28 ERA in four appearances with the Tides. Then Dusten allowed a two-run home run.

Double-A: Bowie Baysox 5, Harrisburg Senators 4

Bowie stomped to victory with a four-run rally in the ninth inning. Jordan Westburg struck the big blow, a three-run, bases-clearing triple. Pretty cool. Willy Yahn also had two hits and two RBI.

The Baysox offensive outpouring supported an OK start by Mickey Jannis, who gave up four runs over six innings. Steven Klimek (5-4, 4.53 ERA) pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Diogenes Almengo got the save.

High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 2, Wilmington Blue Rocks 3

Aberdeen and Norfolk traded two-run innings in the second before Adam Stauffer allowed a third run on a couple of singles and a groundout to get saddled with the tough-luck loss.

That marred an otherwise successful Zach Peek start, who threw five innings and struck out seven. In six starts since moving up to Aberdeen, Peek has a 3.63 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.

AJ Graffanino hit a two-run home run on a 2-for-4 day, while TT Bowens and Chris Cespedes also managed two hits apiece. Lamar Sparks walked twice.

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 9, Fredericksburg Nationals 7

It was a big day for the Shorebirds’ last two draft classes: Colton Cowser went 4-for-5 with a double, four RBI and a stolen base. Coby Mayo was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Connor Norby was 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Jacob Teter and Donta’ Williams had two hits each.

Houston Roth allowed four runs (three earned) in 1.2 innings, but Gregori Vasquez picked up the win with 2.1 innings of one-run ball. Preston Price allowed one run in two innings, Daniel Federman allowed one hit in two innings with three strikeouts. Rickey Ramirez gave up an unearned run in the ninth.
