Johnny Rizer had a big night at the plate, and Patrick Dorrian added a blast of his own during a Bowie doubleheader.

Triple-A: Charlotte Knights (White Sox) 3, Norfolk Tides 1

Norfolk managed just four hits and one run on the evening. Zach Jarrett drove in the Tides’ only run after a pair of walks in the second inning. Rylan Bannon notched the only extra base hit with a double, and he also worked a walk. J.C. Escarra and Yusniel Diaz each added a single. Adley Rutschman went 0-3 but did walk once.

Ofelky Peralta started and allowed all three runs over 4.2 innings. Peralta allowed five hits, struck out four and walked two. Paul Fry replaced Peralta and finished the fifth inning. Ryan Hartman tossed three scoreless and Adam Plutko added a zero in the ninth to round out the game.

Double-A: Somerset Patriots (Yankees) 3, Bowie Baysox 2. Game 1/F7

Gray Fenter cruised through three shutout innings before coughing up three runs in the third. Fenter allowed a pair of singles before giving up a three-run homer with two outs. His final line read 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 5 K, 2 BB.

Bowie scored both runs via solo shots. Jordan Westburg launched his first homer at Double-A in the second, and Patrick Dorrian added his 18th blast in the bottom of the fifth. Dorrian finished 2-3 in the first of two games.

Double-A: Bowie Baysox 7, Somerset Patriots (Yankees) 4. Game 2/F7

Johnny Rizer stole the show in the second contest with a two-run home run and a two-run single. Shayne Fontana added another two-run homer, and Cadyn Grenier picked up an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Kyle Brnovich started and allowed three runs over 4.2 innings. Brnovich allowed five hits, struck out five and walked two.

High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 9, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Phillies) 1

The IronBirds broke things open with four runs in the fourth inning. Ryne Ogren finished 2-5 with a three-run homer, and TT Bowens went 2-4 with a two-run shot of his own. Gunnar Henderson doubled twice and also worked a walk, while Doran Turchin and Cristopher Cespedes both added a pair of hits.

Griffin McLarty navigated through five scoreless innings. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. Ryan Watson allowed a run over three innings, and Nick Roth tossed a scoreless ninth.

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 9, Carolina Mudcats (Brewers) 7

Funny enough, Delmarva also posted four runs in the fourth inning. The Shorebirds benefited from multiple wild pitches and 12 (twelve!) walks. They only tallied eight hits, with John Rhodes, Connor Norby and Coby Mayo combining for six of them. Rhodes doubled twice and finished with 3 RBIs.

Jacob Teter posted the only homer with a solo shot in the seventh. Colton Cowser went 0-4 but did take a walk.

Obviously Delmarva struggled a bit on the mound, but the bats bailed the Shorebirds out. Jake Lyons and Conor Grady allowed all seven runs, but Rickey Ramirez tossed 2.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win. Ramirez struck out five and did not allow a hit.
