Wednesday Bird Droppings: Where we're not peddling any Billy Butler rumors

As you might expect for mid-November, there's not a whole lot going on with the Orioles today, although weird rumors pop up from dubious sources all the same.

Patrick Smith

Hello, friends.

Every day is a winding road, and we have wound ourselves down to 144 days until Opening Day of the 2015 season. In the meantime, there are some weird rumors coming out of the GM meetings in Phoenix, because baseball writers have nothing else to write about, so they run with whatever. Maybe some of them will float, maybe some won't.

Check back later on Camden Chat for our season review post on Brian Matusz (spoiler: I don't like him) and my analysis of the latest developments in the MASN rights fees court case.

Oh yeah, and Buck Showalter won the AL Manager of the Year Award. Congratulations to him! Buck likes our guys. We like Buck. Tonight, the Cy Young Awards will be handed out.

And now all the Birdland stuff that's fit to print from elsewhere around the Orioles corner of the Internet...

Orioles de facto PR director Jeff Lantz leaving for job with Minor League Baseball - Baltimore Sun
You've probably seen Jeff Lantz lurking in the background of many a television interview with an Orioles player. He also announces stats in the press box. Now he's got a new job. Good luck to him.

MLB trade rumors: Orioles making Ubaldo Jimenez available | MLB | Sporting News
I give this about a 1% chance of happening, but honestly, there's so little going on I had to either mention this one or the Billy Butler one, and at least Ubaldo is already on the Orioles.

Chen reliable and cost effective for Orioles | Comcast SportsNet Baltimore
Rich Dubroff sings the praises of Wei-Yin Chen. The Orioles are lucky that nobody else really wanted him. Maybe one of these days, another of Dan Duquette's fringe signings from an Asian market will bear such fruit.

And elsewhere around the SB Nation MLB network...

Dodgers trade rumors: Moving Andre Ethier or Carl Crawford seems obvious, necessary - True Blue LA
Our counterparts over on the Dodgers blog ponder what could happen with their excess supply of outfielders, many of whom are making a lot of money. They'll probably have to trade one. Interested in any of these guys?

This date is the birthday of one regrettable former Oriole, Sammy Sosa, and one old, old time Oriole, Don Johnson, who was on the 1955 squad.

And that's the way it is in Birdland on November 12. Have a safe Wednesday.
