Saturday Bird Droppings: Where the Orioles ridiculous outfield rumors keep going

How would you feel about an Orioles reunion with Nate McLouth? This and more in your Saturday news and links.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Hello, friends.

There are now 93 days until Orioles Opening Day. We are creeping closer, just not very fast. By the time it gets there, I'll find a new way to say it, maybe.

We haven't burned ourselves out of absurd outfield rumors quite yet. Nate McLouth? It isn't 2012 any more. Come on now. Time marches on. The best part about the Orioles being good is we don't have to get attached to these marginal guys because there's nobody else.

Here are a few Orioles tidbits for you to check out on this Saturday. I think I heard something about a big football game later on.

Orioles' search for outfield help continues: Could a reunion with Nate McLouth be possible? - Baltimore Sun
McLouth wasn't exactly good after signing with the Nationals. Maybe he'll get a minor league contract and a chance to show he still belongs in the big leagues - kinda like what brought him into the O's organization in 2012. It's probably not worth worrying about.

Dates Orioles fans should look forward to | Comcast SportsNet Baltimore
Rich Dubroff is here to run down some of the dates next season that you should look forward to, starting with the Orioles first home game on April 10. Opening Day isn't even the first one? Maybe he thinks you already know that one.

Orioles center fielder Adam Jones gets married in Arizona - Baltimore Sun
It turns out that Adam Jones got married last weekend. Congratulations to Adam and his new wife. May they some day be able to celebrate his winning the World Series with the Orioles.

Max Scherzer isn't signing with the Red Sox - Over the Monster
Our Red Sox blog has some real talk for the Nation that Max Scherzer isn't going to be signing there. Bad for them but pretty good for us.

There is not even one single former Oriole with a birthday today. It is, however, the birthday of perpetual Orioles free agent target A.J. Burnett.

On this day in 2007, the Orioles signed Aubrey Huff. Gosh, what a dark time that was. I'm glad it isn't the 00s any more.

And that's the way it is in Birdland on January 3 - or at least unless something happens later. Have a safe Saturday. Go Ravens!
