Good morning! I tell you, it's tough to get up and do Bird Droppings the morning after the Orioles make me wait until the 13th inning to write a recap. But it's all good, since they won. If they had kept me up that late and then lost, well I would not have been a happy Chatter.

Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! Your best Orioles birthday buddy is Mickey Tettleton. You also have Mark Parent, Paul Schuey, and the great Tim Raines, who spent all of four games in an Orioles uniform. You also share a birthday with funny ladies Amy Poehler (44) and Molly Shannon (51), as well as Christopher Rich (62), who many people probably do not know. I recall him fondly as Reba's ex-husband on the surprisingly enjoyable TV show Reba. It's also the 34th birthday of actress Fan Bingbing.
Birthdays of those no longer with us include Jakubazookas favorite Peter Falk (1927-2011) and the lovely Lauren Bacall (1924-2014).
This Day in Recent Orioles History
After 14 years of wandering in the darkness and being one of the sadder teams in baseball, it was on this day in 2012 that the Orioles got their 82nd win of the season. It marked their first winning season since 1997. The Orioles won first ever Wild Card game, then took the Yankees to five games in the ALDS before their season ended.
And on this day just one year ago, my favorite Orioles team in my lifetime clinched the American League East at home against the Blue Jays. That team, of course, went on to steamroll the diviision with 96 wins and sweep the ALDS before falling to the Kansas City Royals in the Championship Series.
